Colouring wood green without hiding the grain
Green is not a colour wood usually takes on naturally, so handles like this start as timber that has been dyed, typically with the colour driven into the fibres rather than brushed on top. Once shaped into the 6 cm handle and polished, the grain still shows through the forest green, which is what separates coloured wood from plastic.
Fitting the brass bolster and setting the pins is classic Sialkot handwork, the same sequence used on larger pocket knives. The result is one of the keychains made in Pakistan that keep a traditional build while wearing a bold, modern colour.
