The story

Grafting knives, from old orchards to the key ring

Long before anyone understood why it worked, orchard keepers had learned to join a shoot from a prized tree onto the roots of a hardier one, and classical authors were already writing instructions for it. The craft needs little equipment, but it does demand a blade that leaves a perfectly flat, clean face, because ragged tissue will not knit. Nurserymen came to favour short, straight blades kept very keen, many with a squared end for opening the bark.

This assortment shrinks that tool to keyring size, with a 4.5 cm stainless blade in a 5.5 cm handle and a brass bolster, offered in dark wood, black horn and white bone. It is a working grafting knife for small jobs and a charming reminder of an old craft.

Which one to choose

Assortment or single material: which grafting keychain to stock

The assortment suits shops that want variety in one order. If you already know what sells, a single-material version may make more sense:

Black Horn Handle Grafting Folding Knife Keychain: glossy horn only, for a dark, uniform row.
Teak Wood Handle Grafting Folding Knife Keychain: warm teak with the same brass bolster and pins, the most natural look.
Dark Wood Handle Grafting Folding Knife Keychain: one consistent dark wood, easy to reorder in matching batches.

Hung side by side on a keychain stand for display, any of them sits well next to the mixed set.

Gift ideas

Gifts for grafters and orchard volunteers

A tiny grafting keychain makes a thoughtful present for people who look after trees:

Members of a community orchard, each choosing bone, horn or wood.
A friend who has just taken a fruit-tree grafting workshop.
Allotment neighbours, as a thank-you for shared cuttings and scion wood.
A gardener's Christmas stocking, beside a roll of grafting tape.

Shops with Pakistan knives for sale online should show all three handle materials in one photo; choosing between them is half the pleasure of this gift.
