Quality check

Five things to inspect on a Damascus fixed blade

Pattern-welded steel rewards a slow look in good light. Check each piece as it comes out of the carton:

  • The pattern flows along the whole 12 cm blade, with no dull or blotchy areas left by uneven etching.
  • No hairline seams cross the layers; those would point to an incomplete weld.
  • The decorative notches on the spine are evenly spaced and free of sharp burrs.
  • The inox bolster is flush with both the blade and the olive wood, with no glue showing.
  • The knife slides into its leather case and stays put when shaken.

Retailers stocking Damascus knives from Pakistan can apply the same list to any model in the range.

Pro tip

Rest your thumb on the notches for fine work

Those spine notches are mainly there for looks, but they also give your thumb something to grip. For controlled cuts, such as carving a spoon blank or trimming fishing line close to the knot, place the pad of your thumb on the notched spine just ahead of the inox bolster and guide the 12 cm blade in small movements. Knife makers call such notches jimping, and you will find them on many a survival knife for exactly this reason.

Which one to choose

Bolster, gut hook or saw-back: comparing the Damascus family

Four knives in this family share hand-forged Damascus blades, olive wood handles and leather cases. What sets this knife made in Pakistan apart is the pairing of a decoratively notched spine with a polished inox bolster, at 24 cm overall.

Questions & answers

Pattern, price and branding questions

Are Damascus knives from Pakistan any good?

Sialkot workshops have produced pattern-welded blades for many years, and the better pieces are judged on the same points as Damascus made anywhere else: an even etch, layers running unbroken from edge to spine, and fittings that sit flush. Each blade's pattern is unique, so expect your knife to differ slightly from the photo.

What does this Damascus knife cost in Pakistan?

The cost of one knife is listed at the top of this page, converted to rupees (PKR) for visitors from Pakistan. Collectors' shops and outdoor retailers ordering several Damascus models together pay less per piece; message us on WhatsApp or email for a quote.

Can it be supplied with our logo?

On wholesale orders, private marking is available on request. Send your logo and the quantity, and we will confirm how and where it can be applied without spoiling the pattern.
