Burr patrol after a long session

A thrower is rarely given a keen edge: it would cut your fingers in a blade grip and dull on the first hard miss anyway. What it needs is a solid, symmetrical point, and throwing knives from Pakistan like this triple-slot model are easy to keep that way.

Clamp the knife flat in a vice with soft jaws, or hold it firmly against the edge of a bench.
Feel along both sides of the spear point for raised burrs from misses.
Draw a fine mill file along the bevel, away from the point, until the surface is smooth again.
Restore a blunted tip with a few even strokes on each side, keeping it centred.
Finish by easing any sharp corners on the three slots with fine abrasive paper.
