Restoring a blunted tip on a pommel-weighted knife
The rounded pommel gives this knife a weighted balance, and the spear point takes every knock when a throw goes wrong. Keep that point working:
- Every few sessions, look at the tip side-on under a bright lamp; a flattened or curled point shows as a bright spot.
- Rest the blade flat on the bench and work the tip with a diamond plate or medium stone, in short strokes towards the point.
- Alternate sides stroke for stroke so the point stays centred between the edges.
- Stop when the tip is crisp but not needle-thin; it should still bite into soft wood without bending.
On throwing knives from Pakistan like this one, the point is what counts, and the edges can be left alone.
