Horn has been used for knife handles almost as long as people have hunted, because it came from the same animals and needed only shaping and polishing. Heated horn can be softened, flattened and pressed, which let early craftsmen make combs, spoons, buttons and the thin translucent windows of old lanterns, once spelled 'lanthorns' for that reason.
This skinner continues the tradition with a dark horn handle, 11.6 cm long, set between a brass guard and pommel, and a satin 10.5 cm stainless blade with a gut hook. Horn and brass remain a classic pairing on Pakistan knives, and both wear well with handling.
