Choosing Firefighter Knives

Buying guide

One rescue design in ten finishes

All ten models share the same working layout: a 9 cm stainless blade with assisted opening in a 12.5 cm handle, plus a glass breaker and a seatbelt cutter. That makes the choice simpler than it first looks; it comes down to grip, colour and who will carry the knife.

Fire-service suppliers usually standardise on one or two colours so a crew's kit matches, while car accessory and outdoor shops do better with a spread. Each product page lists a compatible leather sheath, sold separately. On arrival, check that the assisted opening is smooth, the belt cutter's edge sits deep enough to keep fingers clear and the glass-breaker point is firmly seated. Firefighter knives are bought for work, so these checks matter.

Display & retail

Placing rescue knives where drivers and crews look

A rescue folder sells on its tools, so make them easy to see.

  • Show one knife open and one closed, with the glass breaker and belt cutter labelled; a short length of webbing pinned beside them lets customers understand the cutter at a glance.
  • In car accessory shops, place them near first-aid kits, torches and warning triangles rather than with hunting knives.
  • In fire-service supply stores, group the motif models together and line up the plain colours as a row.

International Firefighters' Day on 4 May, Father's Day and the year-end holidays are natural moments to feature a fireman's knife in a window or online banner. The two-tone and motif versions are the natural choice for customers buying a present.

Questions & answers

Questions from fire-service suppliers

What makes a good knife for a firefighter?

It has to work with gloves on, in the dark and under stress. That means a grippy handle, one-hand opening, a seatbelt cutter shaped so its edge cannot reach the fingers, and a hardened point for tempered side windows. Firefighter rescue knives like these combine all four with a 9 cm blade for webbing, rope and tape. Practise using each tool before you rely on it.

Do you supply fire services and first-responder shops directly?

Yes. We sell wholesale to suppliers, shops and services in many countries. There is no minimum order: send your quantities, preferred colours and destination, and we will quote the order as a whole.

How should the rescue tools be maintained?

Brush out the belt cutter slot after use, since fibres and grit collect there, and check that the glass-breaker point is still tight. Wipe the blade, add a drop of light oil to the pivot and test the assisted opening a few times so it stays reliable.
