Grip, blade coating and theme: choosing a modern folder
These 28 folders replace traditional wood with metal and texture, and most open with assistance, usually through a flipper tab. Choose along three lines.
- Grip: raised-dot black metal, ridged or grooved black aluminium, rubberised, dimpled and studded finishes, or teak for a softer look on the Black-Coated Blade Folding Knife with Teak Wood Handle.
- Blade: plain stainless or black-coated, in tanto or drop-point profiles; the 8.5 cm tanto rescue models and the 11 cm mascot blades cover smaller and larger pockets.
- Theme: rubber animal mascots, such as the Fox Mascot Assisted-Opening Pocket Knife, and etched or shield motifs for bikers, navy, army and air force enthusiasts and fans of heraldry.
About a dozen models add rescue tools, a glass breaker usually paired with a seatbelt cutter, which places them between a pocket knife and an emergency tool. A tactical knife from Pakistan in this range sells best for outdoor work, vehicle kits and collecting themed series. For a shop, the practical approach is to take one theme in full, for example the six animal mascots, plus two or three plain grips as everyday sellers.
