How to use

Sheathing and unsheathing a double-edged blade

Both edges of this Pakistan dagger knife face your fingers at some point, so handle it with a set routine:

  1. Hold the leather case near its mouth, never along the part where the 25.5 cm blade will sit.
  2. Grip the walnut handle firmly behind the swept brass guard and draw the blade straight out, along the line of the case.
  3. Lay the dagger on a flat surface with the point facing away from you before doing anything else.
  4. To put it back, line the point up with the case opening and slide it in slowly, without twisting.
  5. Wipe off fingerprints with a dry cloth before storing it.
Questions & answers

Swept guard, spacers and price

What is the price of the walnut dagger with the swept guard?

The price per piece appears at the top of this page, in rupees (PKR) for visitors browsing from Pakistan. Gift shops and collectors' stores ordering several receive a lower rate per dagger as the order grows; WhatsApp or email us for the figure.

What are the bands on the handle?

Brass and black spacers set into the 12.5 cm walnut handle. They add a banded look that echoes the brass guard and make this a more dressed-up Pakistan knife with a wood handle than the plain-guard daggers.

Why is the guard swept?

Its brass arms curve rather than standing straight out, a decorative form seen on many older daggers and swords. It gives the piece a dressier outline on a wall or in a cabinet.

Care & maintenance

Caring for walnut, brass spacers and a polished blade

Three materials meet on this dagger, and each needs its own attention:

  • Wipe the 25.5 cm stainless blade with a soft cloth after handling; a drop of oil on the cloth stops fingerprints from marking it.
  • Clean the swept brass guard and the spacers with a dry cloth; if they darken, apply a little brass polish on a cotton bud, keeping it off the walnut.
  • Feed the walnut with a few drops of mineral oil or furniture wax every couple of months so the grain stays rich.
  • Display the dagger out of its leather case, and condition the case occasionally.

A Pakistani blade this decorative is worth the extra minute.
