Quality check

Compact dagger, careful checks

On a smaller Pakistan dagger, fit and symmetry are easier to judge than on a long blade. Check each piece as it comes out of the carton:

  • Both edges of the 23.5 cm blade run straight and meet in a centred point.
  • The plain steel guard is square to the blade and does not move.
  • The 11.5 cm dark wood handle sits flush against the guard, with no gaps or cracks.
  • The polish on both faces is even, without grinding marks.
  • The dagger slides fully into its leather case and comes out without snagging.

Any piece that fails one test is worth setting aside before it reaches a customer.

Questions & answers

Answers for buyers of the 23.5 cm dagger

What does the compact dagger cost in Pakistan?

Shoppers in Pakistan find the unit price in rupees (PKR) at the top of the page. As with all Pakistan knives for sale on this site, the price per piece falls for larger orders; contact us on WhatsApp or by email for a wholesale quote. It can be quoted together with the longer daggers.

How good is the quality of a Pakistan knife like this one?

It is made to a simple, solid pattern: a double-edged stainless blade, a steel guard and dark wood, with nothing ornamental to hide poor fitting, which makes quality easy to see. A stainless Pakistan dagger like this should show tight joints, an even polish and a centred point.

Made in Sialkot

Grinding two edges to meet in the middle

Grinding a double-edged blade is a test of a cutler's eye. Both edges must be ground to the same width and angle on both faces, and the centre line kept straight, or the point drifts to one side. In Sialkot this has long been skilled handwork on grinding belts and polishing wheels, with the blade checked against the light between passes.

Once the blade is ground and polished, the steel guard is fitted, and the dark wood is shaped into the 11.5 cm handle and finished. A compact 23.5 cm blade leaves less room to hide an uneven grind than a long one, so its symmetry is a fair measure of the work.
