Questions & answers

Blue keyring sharpener questions

How much does the blue keyring sharpener cost?

Its unit price sits at the top of this page, shown in rupees when you browse from Pakistan. Buying the blue, black and red versions together for a counter display? Ask us for a quantity price on WhatsApp or by email.

Is it the same as the black and red versions?

Yes, apart from the colour. All three are 7.8 cm long, with a tungsten carbide notch in an aluminium handle and a keyring chain. Bright blue is simply easier to spot in a bag or on a crowded key ring.

Will it suit a small folding knife?

Yes. Draw the blade through the notch with light pressure, a few strokes at a time. It handles the plain edges of pocket knives and of many Pakistani knives with stainless blades.

Care & maintenance

Grit, rain and steel dust on a key ring

A sharpener that lives on a key ring gets knocked, dropped and rained on. To keep it working:

  • Wipe the steel dust out of the carbide notch after each use, so it does not end up in your pocket.
  • Rinse off sand or grit after a beach or fishing trip, then dry it.
  • Avoid harsh solvents on the blue aluminium, which can dull the colour.
  • Check the chain now and then; a stretched link is easily replaced.

With that, this little knife sharpener keeps both its bright colour and its bite.

Best uses

Bright blue for gifts and busy bags

Bright colours sell differently from black: they are picked as gifts, to match a knife, or simply because they are easy to find at the bottom of a bag. Retailers with Pakistan knives for sale can use the blue sharpener to:

  • Brighten a counter display
  • Pair with blue-handled folders
  • Fill stockings and party bags
  • Gift scouts, sailors and campers
  • Mark boat or caravan keys

Tungsten means heavy stone

The name tungsten comes from the Swedish tung sten, meaning heavy stone, while its chemical symbol W comes from its other name, wolfram. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals, and combined with carbon it forms tungsten carbide, one of the hardest materials in everyday use and hard enough to shave steel from a blade in this little blue sharpener.
