Pale pine turns honey-coloured with time
Freshly cut pine starts out pale, then slowly turns honey and amber as light and air act on the wood, and untreated pine shows the change soonest; in a bright spot it can be visible within months. The rack you unpack will not look quite the same a year later, and a keychain stand for display that lives in a sunny window will deepen in colour faster than one kept further inside.
