Wood, velvet and the kit inside
A presentation box lasts for decades if each material gets its due:
- Dust the wooden exterior with a dry cloth, polish it with a little furniture wax once a year, and keep it out of direct sun, which fades wood.
- Lift lint from the brown velvet with a soft brush or a strip of tape, never with water.
- Wipe the sharpening rod after use and give it a light film from the grease tin before closing the lid.
- Close the tin tightly so grease cannot stain the velvet.
It is the same advice we give, as Pakistan knife makers, for keeping any knife in its box.
