Stitches, snap and leather: caring for the universal sheath
The stitched edge holds this sheath together, so care starts there:
- Check the thread every few months; a loose stitch caught early can be secured with a dab of leather glue before it unravels.
- Wipe the split leather with a barely damp cloth, then let it dry away from heat.
- Condition sparingly: too much balm softens the pouch and lets the knife wobble.
- Keep the snap dry and close it with a press of the thumb rather than slapping the flap shut.
- For long storage, keep the knife outside the sheath; leather holds moisture against steel.
It is the routine we recommend as Pakistan knife makers for every leather sheath we supply.
