Display & retail

Building a game-bird corner for the season

In much of the northern hemisphere, duck seasons run through autumn and winter, which is when a flying duck medallion sells best. Place this Pakistan folding knife where outdoor customers already look:

  • Beside waxed jackets, decoys and bird calls rather than in the general knife cabinet.
  • In a row with its siblings, the stag medallion folder and the wild boar medallion folder, so customers can pick their animal.
  • With one knife shown in its padded case, ref. 2100, to suggest the add-on.

A small card pointing out the shepherd-style outline of the 10.5 cm acacia handle helps it stand out from plainer folders.

Questions & answers

About the duck medallion folder

Does the lock mechanism feel secure?

Test it rather than trust a label. Opened fully, the blade should come to a clean stop and stay put; squeeze the handle and push lightly on the spine, then try to move the tip left and right. A well-fitted knife shows no play. When you close it, it should resist until you deliberately fold it.

What is the price of this pocket knife in Pakistan?

Pakistani visitors see the rupee price (PKR) per knife at the top of the page and can order through WhatsApp. Hunting retailers buying the full medallion range get degressive pricing: the more knives, the lower the unit rate. Ask by WhatsApp or email.

Is the duck printed or inset?

It is a medallion inset into the acacia wood handle, not a print, so it will not rub off with handling. Wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh polishes, which can dull the surrounding wood.

Sharpening

Following the curve of a shepherd-style blade

  1. Start with a 1000 grit whetstone and hold the 9 cm blade at about 20 degrees.
  2. Sharpen the straight part of the edge first, pushing from the heel towards the belly.
  3. As you reach the curve, raise the handle a little so the stone keeps meeting the edge right round to the point; this is where most people miss a spot.
  4. Work both sides equally until you feel a light burr, then refine on a finer stone.
  5. Strop on leather, rinse, and dry the acacia before folding.

A stainless steel Pakistan knife like this one hones back quickly when it is touched up little and often.

Did you know?

Nearly every farmyard duck descends from the mallard

Almost all domestic duck breeds, from white farmyard ducks to fancy show birds, descend from the wild mallard; the Muscovy duck is the main exception. The flying duck on this handle is a nod to that wild ancestor and to the wildfowlers who still follow it across marshes every winter. Among the Pakistan knives for sale in our hunting range, it is the one for bird lovers.
