How a smooth-curve acacia folder comes together
Sialkot's cutlers have worked steel for generations, and a folder like this one follows a long-established sequence. The stainless blade is cut from sheet, hardened and ground to its 9 cm edge, then pinned into the handle at the pivot. The acacia is fitted, shaped and sanded until the 10.5 cm handle forms a single, unbroken curve.
Without a bolster, there is no metal collar to hide the joint, so the fit between wood and steel has to be clean. A final polish brings out the deep reddish-brown tone of the acacia, and a Pakistan pocket knife of this pattern is usually finished with a last sharpening and a test of the action.
