Know-how from our Sialkot workshop

Which one to choose

Polished white or one of its close siblings

This grafting knife has the glossiest finish in the white-handled line: a polished white ABS handle of 10 cm, an inox bolster and a straight 8.5 cm blade. Its nearest alternatives differ in shade, colour scheme or size:

Made in Sialkot

Grinding, polishing and the finishing bench

Much of the character of a knife like this is decided at the finishing stage. In Sialkot's cutlery trade, blades are ground and then polished on progressively finer wheels until the flats are bright, and handles are buffed to a gloss, which on this model brings the white ABS to a smooth shine. The inox bolster is polished to match the blade, so the metal reads as one piece from tip to handle.

The city has worked metal for centuries and now exports cutlery, surgical instruments and garden tools around the world, with finishing skills passed from one generation of craftsmen to the next. Collectors of vintage Pakistan knives will recognise the polished, symmetrical look, and a Pakistan stainless steel knife made today follows the same tradition.

How to use

Side-veneer grafting for potted maples and conifers

Nurseries use the side-veneer graft for potted plants such as Japanese maples and conifers, usually in late winter under cover. A straight 8.5 cm blade suits the long, shallow cuts it needs.

  1. Near the base of the potted rootstock, make a shallow downward cut through the bark and just into the wood, leaving a thin flap.
  2. Remove most of that flap, keeping a short lip at the bottom for the scion to sit in.
  3. Shape the scion base with one long cut on one side and a short angled cut on the other, so it matches the exposed face of the stock.
  4. Insert the scion so the cambium layers meet along at least one edge, then wrap the union tightly with grafting tape.

Keep the grafted plants humid and shaded until the union has taken.

Questions & answers

Engraving, quality and price for the white model

How good is the quality of a Pakistan knife like this one?

The essentials are sound: a straight stainless blade that takes a fine edge, an inox bolster that resists rust and a polished white ABS handle that cleans with a wipe. With Pakistani knives, quality shows in alignment and finish, so open this one when it arrives, check that the blade runs straight and closes centred, and look along the edge for an even bevel.

How much does this stainless knife cost in Pakistan?

Shown in rupees (PKR) for anyone in Pakistan, the unit price is at the top of this page. Volume orders from nurseries, cooperatives or garden retailers attract a lower price per knife; tell us the quantity on WhatsApp or by email, and we will send a wholesale quote.

Can you put our nursery's name on the handle?

Engraving and private label are available on request. A dark mark reads clearly on a white handle, which makes this model a good candidate for staff knives or a branded giveaway. Send us the text or logo and the quantity, and we will confirm what is possible.
