Six knives, twelve pieces or a fork set
All 30 sets share the same base, 11.5 cm blades in 420 stainless steel on 12 cm handles, presented in a wooden case. The real choices are contents, handle and fittings.
- Contents: six table knives; six knives with six forks, as in the Black Horn Handle Table Knife & Fork Set; or a six-fork set to complete knives bought earlier. Many cases add a sharpening steel.
- Handle: black, white and glossy horn, white bone, two-tone horn and bone, walnut, teak, acacia, dyed woods in blue, red, charcoal or multicolour, and all-steel.
- Fittings: inox bolsters on most, brass on several and white copper on a few, plus details such as the brass floral inlay of the Acacia Wood Handle Table Knife Set with Brass Floral Inlay.
Hospitality buyers often favour all-steel sets, which tolerate frequent washing best, or dark horn for a uniform look across many tables. Gift and wedding-list shops do better with bone, two-tone and inlaid wood. A shop starting with a knife set from Pakistan might take one horn set with a steel, one bone set and one dyed-wood set to see which style its customers prefer. When a case is opened, count the pieces and check that the handles match in tone.
